Air Marshal Rajvir Singh VSM, Director General Medical Services (Air), assumed the appointment of DGMS (Air) on 19 Jan 2018.The Air Marshal is an alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College and was commissioned into the Army Medical Corps on 03 Mar 1980 with an excellent academic profile. He acquired a Diploma in Hospital Administration from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai in 2001 and acquired his PG qualification of Master in Management Studies from Osmania University in 2003, while attending the Long Defence Management Course at College of Defence Management, Secunderabad.
Prior to assuming the appointment of DGMS (Air), the Air Mshl held the appointment of Commandant and OIC Records of the prestigious AMC Centre and College, Lucknow from May 2017 to Jan 2018, and was also appointed as Colonel Commandant of Army Medical Corps on 01 Nov 17.During his career over 38 years, he has held a broad span of administrative and professional appointments in the AMC, and has excelled in Command, Staff and Instructional roles as a true reformist. He has commanded the prestigious 92 Base Hospital. Subsequently, the Air Officer has commanded Command Hospital (Western Command). Both tenures were markedly dynamic with all round improvements in patient care and facilities of the Hospitals.
In staff appointments, the Air Officer had held the appointment of Addl DGMS (IS, H&PS) in the Medical Directorate of IHQ of MoD (Army) where he was instrumental in progressing IT related projects of the AMC. Earlier, Air MshlRajvir Singh has held the appointments of Brig (Med) in HQ 15 Corps in CI Ops area, Dy DGAFMS (HR) in the office of DGAFMS and Dir MS (Pers) in the O/o DGMS (Army), wherein he was keenly involved in cadre restructuring and manpower augmentation of the AFMS. He has also been a Directing Staff at College of Defence Management, Secunderabad and at the Officers Training College, AMC Centre and College, wherein he made a qualitative improvement in the in-service training of AMC officers and MNS officers.
Air MshlRajvir Singh has a keen interest in automation of hospitals and during his tenure at INHS Asvini (a 800 bedded tertiary care hospital), he spearheaded the full project of automation of the hospital, the bench mark successful project of AFMS for which he was awarded FOC-in-C Commendation in 2002.For his distinguished and meritorious service, Air MshlRajvir Singh was awarded FOC-in-C (West) Commendation in 2002 and COAS Commendation twice in the years 2008 and 2010. The Air Mshl was awarded the VishistSeva Medal in 2012 while posted in CI Ops environment as Commandant of 92 Base Hospital.
