We bring you this new edition of the journal with renewed confidence placed on us by the Aerospace Medicine Community, as we bear the weight of the added responsibility of expanding our wings to tread the path of indexing our journal to the next level.
The new editorial team has put together yet another bouquet of thought provoking and stimulating articles on the contemporary and relevant subject that we typically face.
The article on the effects of age and flying experience on cardiac responses during exposure to high G is a riposte to the long-standing concern of the fighter pilot community.
While the COVID-19 pandemic seems to be out of sight, the quality research done during the period needs appreciation. One such questionnaire study finds a place in this journal that highlights its effects on physical activity and sleep in military aircrews.
Sleep and alertness management during continuous wakefulness has been an enduring topic for discussion in aerospace medicine as well as operational communities. The study on recovery following cumulative sleep restrictions that military aircrew are likely to experience during continuous and sustained operations is yet another step toward addressing the dilemma of sleep management.
Once implemented, Armed Forces policies, too, need a relook from the operational perspective. One such analysis has been presented in the article that propels the policymakers to re-visit the strategies for the evaluation of aircrew with minor musculoskeletal injuries in the field settings.
While the civil aviation sector in India is growing at an exponential rate, the aeromedical concerns while carrying passengers with medical conditions also follow the trend. The article from a Middle Eastern region aptly brings out the issue in one of their national airlines.
The case report on the aeromedical disposition of the rare ophthalmic condition in an aviator highlights the approach adopted during comprehensive evaluation to arrive at an accredited medical conclusion regarding fitness for flying duties.
The usual touch of flavor in the form of an interesting book review and aviation quiz completes the gourmet dish for you.
Happy Reading!
