Welcome to the present issue of Indian Journal of Aerospace Medicine. On assuming the role of the Chief Editor, it is heartening to note that the Indian Journal of Aerospace Medicine is moving steadily into a new phase of its development. I extend my sincere gratitude and thanks to the passion and vision of my predecessors and the Editorial Board Members. Aerospace Medicine is a captivating field that combines science behind medicine as well as technology, to preserve the health and safety of those in aviation and space exploration. To share this knowledge and to improve the practices in Aerospace Medicine besides advancing research in this unique field, the editorial team once again presents multidisciplinary research work in the form of articles from experts in the arena of Aerospace Medicine.
In the present era of immeasurable technological advancements in the aerospace industry, the role of cognitive science has assumed an even greater importance as a determinant of aviation safety. This issue focuses on this aspect and brings to you an original research work by our specialists whose constant endeavor is to contribute to aerospace safety. Keeping abreast with the developments in the field of human ergonomics, we bring to you interesting short communication with a goal to improve our knowledge base. This issue also offers unique case reports to add to the clinical experience and aid in aeromedical decision making. I am sanguine that the present issue would definitely make you realize the deeper analysis and research needed for problem solving in the field of human factors and ergonomics. As always, our vision is to publish the best original scientific work and provide a platform to enthusiastic clinical specialists and scientists in the field of Aerospace Medicine.
